January 28- Today we arrived in Amsterdam after a long flight. Schiphol airport did not really seem like I was in the Netherlands yet because everything was written in English and I still recognized some stores. We took a train from Schiphol to a tram stop which we took to our stop at Uiltenstede, which means Owl City. We then proceeded to Café Uilenstede, which is a pub located right next to my dorm building. After getting all the paperwork done we went to our rooms and started to get settled in. The room was fairly big and was really nice. I live in a 13 story dorm building known as the "Green Building" along with everyone else from the group.
I live on the second floor and also I have my own balcony and bathroom. The bathroom was interesting as the toilet was located inside the shower.
That took a while to get used to but now I hardly notice the toilet. Afterwards we went to Super DeBoer, a small grocery store located nearby. That was an interesting experience for me seeing that I have never really been to the grocery store to shop for food for myself. I had no clue what to buy so I just grabbed some random items that seemed important such as bread, peanut butter and jelly, milk, and toilet paper. It was also difficult knowing what to buy because everything was obviously written in Dutch. Later that night I went to Café Uilenstede for a little while and then headed back and went to bed early, just like everyone else.
